Outdoors in Manitoba
Fishing along the river bank and we see where high water was washed away the bank leaving opening into a beaver den in the bank. Here in Manitoba they will den in bank when they do not have a place to start a hut.

vincent has spent a lot of his time setting beaver and muskrat traps this spring. One night we took him out to check traps.

April 19 and the geese are still wondering why they are standing in the snow. April 21 we woke to 2 inches of snow on the ground.
Rabbits turning color is a great sign for us when snow seems to be not going very quickly.

Manitoba Winter at Big Grass Lodge
Critters still feeding at the grease barrel. we had a recent snow of 8-10 inches and these were all covered up then just yesterday I see fresh tracks coming in from back slough and the critters are again feeding at this grease barrel.

Tom is thinking Jazmine will have puppies in the next few hours. however it is still not happened and 24hours later but Judy is now midwife so it will be exciting!!
Snow levels here in Manitoba are higher than last. A year ago today temps were at 70F this morning sunrise it was -5F just a little difference.. Road is getting pretty narrow hope the municipal plow comes soon.. And hopefully NW winds do not blow! Ducks

Suet from the deer Tom shot in NOvember feeds these little fellows. The sunflowers ran out and they are jsut flocking to the suet, however temps did drop to -30 last eve. So I guess the need to eat to keep warm.
Winter in Manitoba
Back of the barn we store our barrels of grease for the next years hunting. Out for a walk one day and I find tracks leading to the barrels, Foxes and birds have been feeding on this. It has been a cold snowy winter. Everyone needs a snack tokeep warm.

Lake of the Praires is the place to do ice fishing in winter however with cold temps lots of snow we are experiencing augers needing extentions. here Keith digs into snow then with auger he is jus table to break through the ice.

Judy and Uncle Bailey sittn and a fishn! A lot of fishn but not sure if the catchn is worth the minnows used. Good thing Tim and Tom did some catchn as the fillets off this little one would have been pretty small.

The girls and I went snowshoeing the other day and fudge decided a bath in the snow was the thing to do. Her thick winter coat at this time of year and she had a little itch so some rough snow was the place to get the itchy spot.

The Yardex roll seems to be seen on many a hunters dash over the hunting season. Here it sits while some fellows are out checkn the traps. I am told after heading to the field in goose camp it is terrible to be caught with out it and the birds are working
